====== Compaction ======

  * This is a precursory step for systems going from DV2000 v8.0 to v8.1.
  * This can be done while the DuVoice services are still running.

===== Overview =====

  - Download the .ZIP.
  - Extract the .ZIP.
  - Move the file.
  - Run the command.

===== Download =====

  * Download the .ZIP containing the executable [[https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MXosl4w7LcRBwh6SMlPNfC3Ze4NP3LuP/view?usp=drive_link|here]].

===== Extract =====

  - Find the ZIP file
    - Open File Explorer: by pressing Windows key + E. 
    - Navigate to the the Downloads folder.
  - Right-click the ZIP file
    - Select Extract All… from the menu.
    - Click Extract
    - Wait for the process to finish.
  - Open the extracted folder
    - You should see: dbmaint.exe

===== Move File =====

  - From the extracted folder:
    - Right click ''dbmaint.exe''
    - Then click **copy**.
  - Navigate to this directory: ''C:\vs\''
    - Paste the executable into this directory.
    - If it asks to overwrite any files, click **yes**.

===== Run Command =====

  - Open an administrator command propmt.
    - Run this command: ''C:\vs\dbamint.exe -compact''
    - Wait until the command prompt finishes and returns with a blank like.
      - Should look like this: ''C:\Windows\System32>''
      - Depending on the amount of messages, this process could take many hours.
