====== LDAP ======

The 7.00 provides limited compatibility with the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, or LDAP.

Features:
  * Compatible with all versions of Microsoft Exchange
  * Configuration can be changed while the system is running

Limitations:
  * Does not support TLS access
  * Does not support writing information to the server

===== Configuration =====

LDAP communication is supported over a TCP/IP network connection which can be configured using the dialog shown below.

|//Timeout//|Enter the number of seconds to wait for a server response after a connection attempt.\\ \\ Default is ''2'' seconds.|
|//Search Base//|Enter the base directory string to search for names.\\ \\ For example, if your Exchange server is located in the domain //mycompany.com//, you would enter the string ''CN=Users,DC=mycompany,DC=com''.\\ \\ //Your directory might vary depending on configuration.  Please consult your LDAP server configuration.//|

===== Testing =====

After applying any configuration changes, you can test your configuration by clicking the **Test** button.  The 7.00 will attempt to contact the LDAP server using the settings provided and will display the manufacturer, product version, and protocol version used by the server.

For example, Microsoft Exchange 2010 will provide:
  * the manufacturer as ''Microsoft Corporation''
  * the product version number ''510''
  * and, typically, a protocol version number of ''3''.
