MongoDB can be directly installed over the top of an existing version, only if the major version is equal. This means for example a database running MongoDB 8.1.0 can be directly updated to MongoDB version 8.2.11 or 8.2.12 or even 8.3.11 if supported. When the major version does not match then the following procedure must be performed, this is a limitation of MongoDB.
For this entire process the DV2000 VMS cannot be running and must be shutdown. During this procedure, no messages, wakeup calls, reports, or configuration will be lost.
Installing the wrong version of MongoDB may result in data loss.
This procedure typically takes less than three minutes when all installs are downloaded before starting.
This step must be performed otherwise data loss will occcur.
mongodump -h "127.0.0.1" -d bandon -o "c:\vs\database"
Do not uninstall any DV2000 applications other than MongoDB or data loss will occur.
This procedure will ensure the database is properly upgraded to the version just installed.
mongod.exe --upgrade
Verify the configuration using Manager.
If this process fails at any time following the backup procedure, install the original database version and start off with the Restore step listed above.
