Greetings / Prompts

The settings on the Prompts tab specify what system prompts are used for certain situations, such as the default greeting for a mailbox that does not yet have a personal mailbox greeting recorded.

Greetings

These settings specifically relate to the mailbox greeting.

Default Greeting

If there is no personal greeting recorded for a mailbox using this COS, then the prompt file specified by this setting will be played instead. You can select any one of the following options:

Selecting the option None means that if the mailbox has no personal greeting recorded, then no greeting will be played. When a call enters the mailbox, it will wait for a DTMF and, if none is entered, will take the No Input action in the assigned SDA template. This feature is often used to tie a DID number to a system mailbox that automatically executes an IVR application via the No Input action.

Allow subscriber to record greetings

This setting determines if the subscriber is allowed to record any personal mailbox greetings, including the name recording for the directory. If disabled, the system will use the default greeting prompt discussed above.

This setting is disabled for the regular Guest COS and enabled for the Extended Stay COS.

Special-use Prompts

These prompts are used primarily for audiotext-style mailboxes in specialized IVR applications. For the vast majority of users, they should not be changed. A setting of zero (0) means that the prompt is not used.

General

Play record instructions before beep

This setting determines whether the prompts listed in the table below are played after the mailbox greeting (but before the beep). If the COS is configured to not allow message reception (see the Allow receiving messages setting in the Recording section above), then this setting is moot, as the prompts are only played when recording messages.

Use mailbox language when playing prompts for a caller

If this setting is enabled, then when a caller is sent to the mailbox to hear the greeting and (possibly) record a message, the system will use the language selection of the mailbox when playing any system prompts, rather than using either the default language or the caller's language selection.

This does not affect the choice of which personal greeting is played; however, if no personal greeting is recorded and the system must play the default greeting (as defined above), it will use the language selection in that case. It will also use the language selection in any other instance where a system prompt is being played (such as the special-use prompts, record instructions, and so forth).

Even if the caller is able to press a key (such as the * key) to return to the auto-attendant, the language will not change back to what it was before unless the auto-attendant mailbox is using a COS with this setting enabled.

Most language prompt sets only contain prompts that a guest would hear and do not include all the prompts that a caller might hear. So be careful about enabling this option, especially in any COS that is used for guest mailboxes. Languages that include the full prompt set are: US English, UK English, Spanish, French Canadian, Portuguese, German, and Turkish.
