Wakeup Calls

The DV2000 provides an automated wakeup call feature which can be enabled for room mailboxes via the class of service (COS).

By default, both the Guest and Extended Stay COS templates have the wakeup call feature enabled. This feature allows guests to schedule one or more wakeup call notifications for themselves for specific times and dates in the future. When the time for the wakeup call arrives, the system will call the room extension and, if the phone is answered, will play an announcement to the guest and then hang up. All wakeup-related activity is logged by the system and those logs can be reviewed by the hospitality administrator as needed.

Other aspects of the wakeup call feature include:

  • Front desk staff can schedule wakeup calls for guests via the phone or InnDesk.
  • Front desk staff can monitor wakeup call activity via InnDesk.
  • Verbal and/or email notification to operator on failed wakeup call (if configured).
  • Snooze feature supported.
  • Guest-scheduling of the wakeup calls can be blocked while still allowing the PMS or administrator to schedule them.
  • Wakeup call can be redirected to the operator, to prompt the operator to call the room personally.

The wakeup call feature is configured in the class of service (COS) template and, therefore, can be configured to operate differently for different mailboxes simply by assigning a different COS template.

A full discussion of COS template editing is covered in the DV2000 Manager section. Features and options you can configure on in the COS include:

  • Whether the wakeup options appears in the guest subscriber menu
  • Operator auto-transfer options
  • Operator message settings
  • Outdial settings
  • Snooze feature settings
  • Wakeup call message configuration
  • Whether the system calls the guest directly or calls the operator

The DV2000 provides two standard COS templates you can use for room mailboxes: Guest and Extended Stay.

When you create a new mailbox of type room, the Guest COS is assigned by default. Both of these templates are pre-configured for basic wakeup call service. If you wish to configure the feature differently, the simplest option is to just edit the Guest COS template itself (you can always re-import the original template file later if you should need to).
