Compaction

  • This is a precursory step for systems going from DV2000 v8.0 to v8.1.
  • This can be done while the DuVoice services are still running.

Overview

  1. Download the .ZIP.
  2. Extract the .ZIP.
  3. Move the file.
  4. Run the command.

Download

  • Download the .ZIP containing the executable here.

Extract

  1. Find the ZIP file
    1. Open File Explorer: by pressing Windows key + E.
    2. Navigate to the the Downloads folder.
  2. Right-click the ZIP file
    1. Select Extract All… from the menu.
    2. Click Extract
    3. Wait for the process to finish.
  3. Open the extracted folder
    1. You should see: dbmaint.exe

Move File

  1. From the extracted folder:
    1. Right click dbmaint.exe
    2. Then click copy.
  2. Navigate to this directory: C:\vs\
    1. Paste the executable into this directory.
    2. If it asks to overwrite any files, click yes.

Run Command

  1. Open an administrator command propmt.
    1. Run this command: C:\vs\dbamint.exe -compact
    2. Wait until the command prompt finishes and returns with a blank like.
      1. Should look like this: C:\Windows\System32>
      2. Depending on the amount of messages, this process could take many hours.
