Static IP Method

  • Networking:
    • The DuVoice server's Dialogic HMP Telephony drivers only allow for one NIC to be assigned for SIP.
      • Thus all SIP traffic will need to be routed through this NIC.
        • Only 1 IP address is supported on this NIC.
        • This NIC will need to have network access to both the PBX and the SIP phones.
          • If PBX is a hosted solution, then this NIC will need internet access as well.
    • Must have 2-way SIP traffic between:
      • Each SIP phone itself.
      • And the Dialogic-HMP-bound network interface of the DuVoice server.
        • Meaning these devices must be on the same network.
          • Or have the routing rules in place to support this.
    • The physical SIP phone must remain on the same IP address.
      • This can be done one of two ways:
        • Manual static IP configuration.
        • DHCP reservation.
      • If at some point the physical SIP phone is replaced:
        • Keeping the new one on the same IP address will minimize further troubles.
          • If the IP changes:
            • MWI will cease function until:
              • And the associated mailboxes to that SIP phone will need to be updated.
  • This MWI method allows for assigning static IPs to individual mailbox.
    • This is the preferred method for mailboxes that use several physical phones.
  • If any on-site changes are made to the physical phone resulting in a different MAC address for the extension. This will require changes in the DuVoice configuration, accordingly.

One of these, or a combination of both of these, can be used for a single DuVoice site.

  • Requires the phones to be assigned a static IP address.
    • This information will require exporting into a list.
      • We'll refer to this as <phone-ip> in the DuVoice configuration below.

For this to work, we need to enter the IP address of the SIP phone within the mailbox's configuration.

CSV Import

For more information on the CSV import process here.

  1. Configure the MWI address into the 'MWI 0' column to the CSV file:
    1. For a SIP phone configure it like this example:
      1. 123@192.168.0.123
        1. Replace the 123 with the <phone-ext>.
        2. Replace the 192.168.0.123 with the <phone-ip>.
        3. Keep in mind that this information needs to be in the same row as the appropriate mailbox.

Manual Configuration

  1. Log in to the desktop of the DuVoice server.
  2. Open the 'DV2000 Manager' application.
  3. Click on the 'Mailbox' drop down option.
  4. Click on the 'Management' option.
    1. The 'mailboxes' window will open.
  5. Navigate to the mailbox to be modified.
  6. Double click on it to edit.
    1. The individual mailbox will open.
  7. Click on the 'MWI' option on the left.
  8. Configure the MWI address into the 'Address' column for 'Position' 0 like the following:
  9. Click 'ok' to save changes, and close the window.
